When should I Book my swamp tour in New Orleans?
While we are always happy to try to find you a seat with very short notice, our tours often sell out a few days or more in advance. We recommend you book at least 48 hours in advance. On busy weekends, a week or so or more is a good idea. Advance notice helps our tour operators know how many tour guides to have on hand. It also guarantees you will be on the very best tours at the exact time you requested.
If you have a group of seven people or more, you should book as far in advance as possible. Again, we are always happy to try last minute.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing whatever you feel comfortable in. We will be out on the water, so we recommend leaving loose jewelry and watches behind to avoid the possibility of losing your belongings. If it’s a sunny day, make sure to bring some sunscreen! You should always dress comfortably. If it is cooler outside it is good to wear warmer clothes, especially on an airboat.
Can I bring a cooler?
Yes! If you are on a private tour you can bring a large cooler. If you are in a group with others, you can bring an over-the-shoulder cooler bag. You can bring alcohol on certain tours (always for private tours), but no glass please.
Is alcohol allowed?
On a private tour, and some other tours, of course! It’s New Orleans, let the good times roll! Please keep in mind this is a family friendly tour. **We are a family oriented touring company & strive for each guest to enjoy their tours to the best of our tour operator’s abilities. At any time, Bayou Swamp Tours or tour operators (Office Staff, Drivers & Captains) and our vendors/partners/tour operators can revoke your drinking privileges if deemed necessary.**
Do you have a covered boat?
Yes! We have boats other than airboats that you can enjoy the swamp in. We have covered boats that are not loud and provide shade from the sun.
What is a ride in a covered boat like?
A covered boat is a larger boat with an awning that seats more people. It is not loud, unlike an airboat, and moves slower through the swamp. Great for photography!
Are there mosquitoes in the swamp?
Yes, but they rarely come out during the day. Please leave the spray at home
What happens if the weather is bad?
Tours go out rain or shine unless there is inclement weather such as lightning. We will call you ahead of time if your tour is cancelled. NEVER assume the tour is cancelled! Weather calls are up to the boat captain & dock staff. Typically storms blow over fairly quickly and you are still able to get on the water and enjoy your swamp tour. However, severe weather can abbreviate or cancel tours.
Do you have a wheelchair accessible boats?
Our covered tour boat will allow a standard width wheelchair to board.
What to expect after booking?

Once we have your seats guaranteed, we’ll send you a confirmation email with all the details as well as a transaction receipt for your records. To avoid these scenarios, we recommend you book well in advance.
